America’s closest apparel suppliers lost share despite 36.5-point edge

Mexico and CAFTA-DR’s US apparel share fell from 13.86 per cent in 2015 to 12.74 per cent in 2025 despite duty and speed.
Regional trade is locked in T-shirts and sweaters, at over 52 per cent of value; women’s woven fashion and outerwear remain marginal.
For buyers, preferences preserve basics programmes but investment gaps in fabrics, finishing and development cap nearshoring gains.
